Steam cleaning for a car’s interior has become more popular within the auto detailing industry for several great reasons. Steam cleaning is capable of cleaning tough stains, grease, candy, chewing gum, and other sticky particles without having to use harsh chemicals. It is also great for cleaning areas that are hard to reach.
Before you start steam cleaning, you need to thoroughly vacuum your car’s interior to remove debris and dirt. Do your best to get in the cup holders, center console, between the seats, and vents.
Every steam cleaner comes with multiple attachments for different applications. Clean steam your carpet, floor mats, and upholstery using the triangular attachment that comes with the steamer. Scrub any visible stains, stuck candy and chewing gum with the bristle attachment to agitate followed by a good wipe off with your microfiber towel. You can also remove heavy salt stains using the same attachment.
Steam cleaning is safe to use on the headliner if paired with a microfiber towel on the nozzle to avoid direct steam on the fabric. Steam cleaning helps with removing foul odors too, however some stubborn smells may need a different approach. Ozone treatment has been proven to be an effective way of removing stubborn smells from car’s interior but there are some concerns about the risk of using ozone in enclosed areas.
